Scientific Activity of “Albanian University” in cooperation with Albanian Inter-religious Council, in the framework of RESILIENCE European Project

On April 16, 2025, at the library hall of Albanian University was held a scientific activity in the framework of the European project RESILIENCE, which was made possible thanks to the collaboration between Albanian University and the Inter-religious Council of Albania, represented by its Secretary General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Genti Kruja.

In this interdisciplinary event, Prof. Kruja delivered a lecture titled: “Inter-religious Dialogue and the Role of Religious Leaders in Establishment of the Albanian State”, highlighting the historical, spiritual, and national role of religious community leaders in shaping Albania’s identity and statehood.

The activity was headed by Prof. Dr. Kaliopi Naska, who underlined the importance of such academic collaborations and emphasised that addressing this topic brings to attention the valuable contributions of religious communities to the Albanian national heritage and identity. She underlined the need to recognize, preserve, and promote these values.

Prof. Kruja, widely recognized for his ongoing contributions in the field of inter-religious coexistence and studies on religious diversity in Albania, presented documents, historical facts, and analyses that showcase the active involvement of religious leaders in major national issues. He emphasized their enduring role as unifying figures and promoters of inter-religious harmony.

During the interactive discussion, faculty members and students expressed great interest in the topics presented and posed a series of questions, which Prof. Kruja addressed with detailed and well-argued responses. This exchange of ideas enriched participants’ knowledge and further stimulated academic curiosity to explore the role of religious communities in the history of Albania more deeply.

This activity represents an important step toward integrating Albanian scientific research into European networks of religious studies, as well as fostering academic dialogue on the role of religion and inter-religious harmony in the formation of Albanian national and state identity.
