Department of Engineering

Head of the Department: Dr. Joana MINGA

The Engineering Department was created in 2010 from a very prepared staff, as part of the Faculty of Applied and Economic Sciences, laying the foundation for the creation of Bachelor and Master degree programs. At the present, Engineering Department offers five Bachelor degree programs:

  • Electronic Engineering,
  • Computer Engineering,
  • Information Technology,
  • Mechatronics Engineering,
  • Electrical Engineering,

two Master of Sciences degree programs:

  • Electronic Engineering,
  • Information Technology,

and one Professional Master:

  • Energy Systems.

Bachelor degree programs provide the basic knowledge, necessary for the formation of young engineers, able to take the first steps in the labor market in the relevant areas, and lay the foundations for the advancement in Master degree programs.

Bachelor degree programs, in addition to enriching students with necessary theoretical knowledge in the related fields of study, prepare them, through training and laboratory practices, with the necessary technical skills, in order to be able to face different engineering problems, to analyze and to solve these problems by himself or in collaboration with others. This practical training brings them closer to the labor market.

Master of Sciences degree programs offer to the students the necessary knowledge to acquire advanced scientific and professional competence in the relevant engineering field, through innovative methods, instruments and techniques. The theoretical-practical education in the framework of Master of Sciences enables rapid integration of graduates into the labor market.

The Professional Master in “Energy Systems” is a new and contemporary master degree, that aims to prepare students in the energy field, enabling their fast employment in it.

Teaching is based in contemporary methods, technologies, and literature.

The department offers to the students and to the academic staff the following laboratories:

  • Laboratories of Informatics 1 – 2 (Simulations)
  • Laboratory of Network Infrastructure
  • Laboratory of Physics
  • Laboratory of Chemistry
  • Laboratory of Electrotechnics
  • Laboratory of Analog Electronics/ Laboratory of Digital Electronics
  • Laboratory of Electrical and Electronic Measurements
  • Laboratory of Control and Automation (and Mechatronics)
  • Laboratory of Electrical Machines
  • Laboratory of Electronics Installations

These laboratories are equipped with contemporary devices and equipment, according to the study programs requirements. The scientific electronic library of the department has a wide and rich list of books and scientific studies, which are continually updated.
