Scientific activity in the framework of EU project of Research Infrastructure RESILIENCE, enabled from cooperation of “Albanian University” with National Museum of Medieval Art, Korçë.

In the framework of European project RESILIENCE, dedicated to development of European inter-disciplinary infrastructure for all religious studies, “Albanian University” in cooperation with National Museum of Medieval Art in Korçë, who supported this project, held on 21.10.2024 an scientific activity in the venues of the Museum, with the presence of students and lecturers of “Albanian University”.

Head of this Museum Mrs. Fjoralba Prifti presented the topic: «National Museum of Medieval Art and its unique collection worldwide”, focusing on an analysis about history of development of art works displayed in this museum, i.e. presentation of iconography and art works in the course of centuries, Albanian religion, which taking into consideration its cultural and aesthetic values consists of a precious spiritual asset with universal values of our national cultural heritage, standing beside world masterpieces of Byzantine painting. Halls of iconographic art and iconostases created by Albanian painters in the course of five centuries, starting from the Bronze and Iron Eras are displayed in a special modern building, such as National Museum of Medieval Art in Korçë, which offers aesthetic satisfaction for thousands of visitors, and in this cases also for our students.

Students got acquainted through original works of art, at world level, with visual images on antiquity, tradition and originality of liturgic civic culture, as a testimony of Albanian tradition in our national cultural heritage, as an integral part of our European culture. A positive opportunity to see implementation of this iconographic art reflected in the Cathedral of Christ Resurrection in Korçë was also the speech held by Father Vangjeli, who offered students the opportunity to visit the Cathedral. A contribution for organization of this activity, in line with the important European project RESILIENCE, was offered also by Prof. dr. Kaliopi Naska (expert of history), who praised the heritage of art works, as an expression of national cultural pluralism.
