Specialization

This Long-term Specialization Program in Oral Surgery is structured in 4 (four) academic years and runs as a full-time program, consisting of 240 ECTS. The specialized training will be characterized by technological innovations and academic staff made up of experts with a renowned international reputation. The study program aims to equip the specialists with theoretical knowledge developed in the auditorium and practical knowledge that will be developed initially with simulation equipment and then, through clinical treatment with the patient. During the development of this program are expected to use advanced electro-medical equipment for the purpose of learning contemporary technics techniques. Lead professors will conduct direct patient operations and each specialist will have a number of clinical cases carried out as a primary operator under the tutor’s supervision of his course of study. Such a technique will enable clinical and pre-clinical training, providing therapy and patient intervention based on clinical protocols under the tutorial and guidance of relevant professors. In addition, specialists will need to develop scientific research and elaborate articles that will be published later in national and international scientific journals. Scientific cooperation with foreign universities regarding the specialization program in dentistry will consist in the design and development of experimental and clinical research in dentistry, in the publication of scientific documents and participation in scientific congresses.

• The graduates in this field will be trained with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to deal with clinical cases of oral surgery, drafting safe treatment plans in this area, documentation and referral of these cases.
• The graduate specialists should be formed to meet the needs of the labor market, both in public and private institutions outside and within Albania.
• It is intended that graduates reach the level of manual training in the use of appropriate tools and instruments in accordance with specific cases.
• Graduates should achieve the appropriate level of knowledge in the related fields or related to the direction of oral surgery. They need to re-master their knowledge in general medical education and then on a specialized one, enabling to deepening the research studies in further doctoral studies.

The specialization study program at Orthodontics has a three-year duration of 180 ECTS credits. The didactic activities are organized in theoretical modules developed in the auditorium, preclinical exercises with simulator equipment, clinical activities developed in the premises of the clinical structures where the study program is based. The study program is led by the Head of Specialization Programs at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and is coordinated by the Coordinator of these programs in cooperation with the teaching and administrative staff and clinical support staff.
